Review meeting of CCPA standard Base Shaped Reinforced Concrete Pipes was held by CCPA and CBMF on May 6th, 2023.  25representatives from scientific research and architectural design institutes, industry associations, inspection body and laboratory, production enterprises and users attended the meeting, of which 15 were members of review committee.

The main drafter introduced the standard preparation process, the collection of comments and the test data that support the main technical requirements in the standard. The review committee reviewed all the documents, examined the standard text word by word and put forward revisions. The review committee made conclusions that technical indexes are advanced and applicable and the standard reaches international advanced level in general. Finally, the CCPA standard was approved by unanimous approval.

Based on domestic and foreign research and basic verification tests, Base Shaped Reinforced Concrete Pipes proposes the definition of base shaped reinforced concrete pipes, classifies the products according to external pressure loads and interface types and determines the structure and detailed dimensions of the product. It specifies the requirements for concrete compressive strength, appearance quality, dimensional deviation, internal water pressure, external pressure load, water absorption rate and other indicators of the product, and provides test methods and inspection rules for the indicators. Compared to current standards, specification series (nominal inner diameter expanded to 300mm-3500mm) are added in this standard, meanwhile the external pressure load has been increased and divided into levels I, II, and III, internal water pressure performance indicators are improved and the size of the socket and spigot is optimized.

The implementation of this standard will have positive significance in guiding and standardizing the production process of base shaped reinforced concrete pipes, improving product quality, expanding engineering applications, and ensuring the safe and reliable operation of pipelines.
