The establishment of working group for the CCPA standard on the "High-strength Lightweight Aggregate for Structural Concrete" and the first meeting were held on November 11, 2020 in the form of an online meeting. China Concrete and Cement-based Products Association, Beijing Building Materials Research Institute Co., Ltd., Sinoma International Research Institute Co., Ltd., Wuhan University of Technology, etc. Total 15 representatives attended the online meeting.

Meeting participants listened to the report on the preliminary investigation and preparation work for this standard, fully exchanged the current application status and technical indicators of high-strength lightweight aggregates for structural concrete, clarified the division of work and standard preparation progress of the participating units, and put forward opinions and suggestions on key points such as the structure of the main chapters of the standard, key technical indicators and test verification.

There are existing standards for light aggregate products such as shale ceramsite, fly ash ceramsite, sludge ceramsite, clay ceramsite, etc. The standards have low requirements for the physical, mechanical and durability properties of lightweight aggregates. It is rare to standardize the performance indicators of lightweight aggregates from the perspective of structural lightweight aggregate concrete on safety and durability, which affects the scale use of lightweight aggregates in structural concrete.

"High-strength lightweight aggregate for structural concrete" will be compiled on the basis of new breakthroughs in high-strength lightweight aggregate material technology and process equipment technology. Lightweight aggregate products move towards high strength and high performance, which will greatly promote the development of structural lightweight aggregate concrete in scale use. This CCPA standard intends to include a number of technical indicators and innovative evaluation methods, which will play an irreplaceable role in the healthy development of the lightweight aggregate industry and the high-quality development for construction buildings.
