The current highway construction has gradually entered a completely new period, the bottle neck period, which is shown in the following aspects:
l No land for roads and no soil to be used.
l Increasing cost of land and soil acquisition.
l Increasing cost of soil treatment and land reclamation
The construction of national green highway needs more specific methods. Based on scientific and technological innovation, seek a new road structure, which has characteristics of "fast construction speed, less or no land acquisition, less or no filling" to solve the above problems.

ATCDI has designed and developed prefabricated concrete pile-plate structure in road engineering. Pile-plate road structure is a frame structure system composed of prefabricated slab beams and piles. It has the characteristics of strong stiffness and small settlement after construction, and can be used to replace the 3~8m high soil-filling road structure. ATCDI systematically put forward the design and calculation method of pile-plate road structure based on durability, carry out 2 million fatigue tests for the pile-plate joint, developed a series of new forms of connection structure , accessory structure and a new pavement system of pile-plate structure. Compared with the traditional road structure, the pile-plate road structure doesn’t need the slope, which greatly saves the land acquisition area. The precast slab beams and piles can be made in the factory, assembled on site, and the construction period is reduced.

New structures of plate-plate connection and pile-plate connection
This project innovatively put forward the prefabricated concrete pile-plate structure system applied to road and bridge engineering, and established the design method and a complete set of technology considering structural durability. Structures of plate-plate connection and pile-plate connection, new type plate rubber bearing and section steel expansion joint are developed for prefabricated structure. The fatigue performance characteristics of the pile-plate connection joints are verified, and the corresponding anti-fatigue evaluation method is established. A new pavement system of pile-plate structure composed of dense asphalt sand and SMA is developed.
Based on the application in Dezhou-Shangrao national highway engineering, this project formed the prefabricated concrete pile-plate structure system of road engineering with independent intellectual property rights, which enriched and expanded the content of industrial construction technology, met the requirements of standardization and industrial construction technology in current highway construction. This project has good comprehensive benefits and positive social impact, and broad application prospects.
