Design and Application of Steel-Prestressed Concrete Tower of Wind Turbine Generator System, by Beijing Tianshan Gaoke Wind Power Technology Co., Ltd.

In order to fully develop the wind power resources in low and ultra-low wind speed area, the project developed a new type wind turbine generator system tower with steel and prestressed concrete, to overcome the disadvantages of steel tower when increasing the height such as large amplitude, low frequency and resonance with wind turbine generator system. The tower is made of prestressed concrete structure with the height of 15m to 50m at the bottom and the traditional steel structure as the upper part. Moreover, the bottom part are segmented and separated as precast concrete pieces, which are transported to the field to form to rings, hoisted upwards as a whole in turn and finally are connected by prestressed steel cable. The project has applied for 5 national invention patents, of which 2 have been authorized and 12 have been authorized as the national utility model patent. 


The main innovations of the project are as follows.

I. The first use of steel-concrete hybrid structure in the field of wind power in China and the first use of prestressing system and prefabricated assembly process to raise the height of the hub of the wind turbine tower to more than 100 m, which breaks through the economic height of the traditional steel tower.



II. The brand new connection way between wind power tower and foundation and the new arrangement of equipment outside the tower, which has great flood control and waterlogging prevention functions.



III. Development of the construction method and the construction equipment of the prestressed concrete tower are divided into pieces, piecewise splicing and connecting, including the electric telescopic hoisting operation platform.



The steel-prestressed concrete tower of wind turbine generator system is a breakthrough application of precast concrete in the new energy field, which provides a powerful technical support for energy conservation, emission reduction and green environmental protection of new energy construction. The advantages of this tower effectively solve the problem of wind power development in low wind speed area. The project has solved the technical difficulties in the production, splicing and hoisting of the structure design and precast concrete component technology and equipment, subsection and splicing component. It has greatly helped the localization of the technology and the advancement of the international advanced level, as well as the diversification of building materials and steel products.
