The water supply system has a length of 129 meters and a height of 67.8 meters, of which the lower structure is 48.5 meters and the upper structure is 19.3 meters. The volume of concrete in the main structure of the first phase was 96,000m3, with 5,800 tons of steel bars and 358 warehouses. The objective of the Water Resources Development Project for Republic of Zambia is to support the implementation of an integrated framework for development and management of water resources in Zambia. The project beneficiaries are targeted rural communities who will benefit from improved small scale water resources infrastructure. Benefits will also accrue in key river basins to water users and improvements aggregated as the national level through allocation of water and rights. There are three components to the project. The first component is water resources management , the objective of this component is to enhance capacity at the national and regional level to address the challenges of water resources management in Zambia; The second component is water resources development , the objective of this component is to address the infrastructure deficit; and finally the third component is institutional support, the objective of this component is to strengthen the institutional capacity for water resources management and development.
