On September 17, 2021, the annual meeting of Cement Concrete Pipe and Box Culvert Branch of China Concrete & Cement-based Products Association (CCPA) was held in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. The meeting was co-hosted by Cement Concrete Pipe and Box Culvert Branch of CCPA and Cement Sub-Committee of the Chinese Ceramic Society (CCS). The theme of the conference is "Quality, Innovation and Development".

Zeng Qingdong, Secretary-General of CCPA 

In his speech to the conference, Secretary-General of CCPA, Zeng Qingdong introduced that in the first half of 2021, the main products of concrete and cement products industry kept growing, while the growth rate of some products slowed down. The industry's economic income and benefits continued to grow, but the growth rate also slowed down, and the industry's profit growth rate dropped to single digits. According to Secretary-General Zeng Qingdong, the national policies on urban sewage treatment and urban waterlogging treatment have brought both opportunities and challenges to the industry in recent years. In order to win competition and seize opportunities, the industry itself needs to become a driver for innovation.

In his speech, Wang Guanming, the rotating chairman of the Cement Concrete Pipe and Box Culvert Branch, said that under the background of the national macro policy support and in the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan, there were new directions such as urban utility tunnel construction, sponge city construction, pipe network construction and resilient city construction, and with the promotion of standardization work and the support of advanced technology and equipment, the Branch would enjoy a better future.

Zhang Zhidong, general manager of Taiyuan Far East Construction Co., Ltd. delivered a speech about the development course of the company. Established 33 years ago, it expanded its business scope from single prefabricated floor slab, bread brick, curb stone, flower brick and other components in 1990s to various types of reinforced concrete water pipes, underground pipe corridors, subway pedestrian culverts, subway segments and other components at present, forming an integrated product system that can supply more than 300 components.

Secretary General Zhang Yinqiu reported the work of the branch from August 2020 to September 2021. In 2021, all the colleagues in the Cement Concrete Pipe and Box Culvert Branch overcame the difficulties such as rising raw materials, the COVID-19, flood control and disaster relief, and maintained a good momentum of industry development.

Professor Shen Lihua introduced that after decades of reform and innovative development, China has become the country that produces and uses the most concretes and reinforced concrete drainpipes, and the drainpipe industry has also become one of the largest industries in China's cement products industry.

According to incomplete statistics, there are about 500 drainpipe manufacturers of a certain scale in China. The maximum specification for the manufacture and application of reinforced concrete drainpipe products has exceeded 4000mm; Concrete mixing is basically automated; A full-automatic reinforcement cage seam welder has been developed, and the maximum diameter of the weldable skeleton has exceeded 4000mm; The core mold vibration pipe making technology is improving day by day and has become the first choice for medium and large diameter pipe making technology because of its advantages of energy saving and high efficiency. After continuous improvement, the radial extrusion pipe-making machine has been popularized and applied in the production of medium and small diameter pipes. Automatic and intelligent core-lifting mould vibration pipe making machine has been applied in many enterprises. In most pipe jacking projects, the compressive strength grade of concrete is C50 and above, and the impermeability grade is P8 and above. At present, all the pipe-making processes in the world, such as centrifugation, roller suspension, core mold vibration, radial extrusion, vertical vibration and so on, have been developed and localized in China.

Zhao Jun, Secretary-General of UHPC Branch of CCPA, made a report on Performance Characteristics and Application of Ultra-high Performance Concrete, which comprehensively and systematically reviewed and introduced the origin, development and application of UHPC materials.

On the  September 18, 2021, the conference organized a site visit to Taiyuan Far East Construction Co., Ltd. which included reinforced concrete drainage pipe, precast concrete box culvert, precast concrete segment, ready-mixed concrete production line and core mould vibration technology to produce large-diameter steel socket power cable pipe jacking production technology and reinforced concrete drainpipe, electric drainpipe and box pipe jacking production line of Shanxi Lianda Pipe Industry Co., Ltd..
