The appearance characteristics of decorative concrete include color, luster, quality, transparency, texture, shape and size, etc. Decoration is one of the main properties of decorative concrete and given by the appearance characteristics of concrete including space expressiveness, color expressiveness and facade expressiveness. The space expressiveness is shown by different structures (line structure, curved surface structure). The color expressiveness is mainly realized by different coloring treatment methods and surface decoration technology. The façade expressiveness is mainly realized by the decoration process of pretreatment of the outer surface of concrete.

The project makes full use of molding molds, imaging concrete, color pigments, reverse tiling, exposed aggregate and other processes and technologies to form various types of decorative concrete components, improve the decorative effect, and combine decorative layer and concrete structure layer innovatively. Through ingenious decoration technologies, a unique decorative style of decorative concrete has been formed to show its aesthetic and spatial expression.

The project has carried out research and experiments from six aspects: literature research, mix proportion research and development, mold research and development, molding process, treatment process and sample making. The main innovations of the project are as follows.

l Different color concrete mix proportion, mixing process, curing process, storage method and appearance quality control technology have been developed.

l A complete set of technologies such as imaging concrete mix proportion, molding process and quality control has been developed and formed.

l The material and production process of different molds are studied, and the design and production technology of moulds suitable for all kinds of special-shaped structural decorative concrete are formed.

l Concrete surface treatment processes and supporting technologies such as polishing, roughening and exposed aggregate washing are developed.

l The reverse tiling technology is developed, and a complete set of technologies such as ceramic tile pretreatment, laying, slurry leakage prevention method, storage and transportation methods are formed.

The technology of this project has been applied to four schools and office building in Shenzhen. The decorative concrete products are coordinated and friendly with the surrounding environment, can be widely used in building facade decoration, ground decoration and garden landscape. The technical products are environmentally friendly, and have a broad market prospect.
