The submarine tunnel in Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel is about 6,800 meters long and immersed tube section about 5,000 meters long. It consists of 32 pipe joints and one final joint, which is the world's widest submarine immersed tube tunnel made of steel shell concrete.

E29 pipe joint was built by a combo of Poly Changda Engineering Co., LTD. and Guangzhou Salvage Bureau for the S08 contract section in Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge Project. It is a non-standard pipe joint with extra-wide and widened section 4 at the eastern end of immersed tube tunnel in Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge, with a length of about 123.8 meters and the widest part of the pipe joint of about 49.75 meters and a weight of about 64,000 tons after pouring.

It is said that the concrete volume of E29 pipe joint is 23,000 cubic meters, and the prefabrication was officially started in May this year. Su Zongxian, chief engineer of S08 Contract Section in Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge by Poly Changda Engineering, introduced that "in order to ensure the efficient and high-quality prefabrication of pipe joints, we have broken through the previous' interval' alternate construction method, and added a steel shell pipe joint assembly station in the dock, that is, during the casting process of one pipe joint, the steel shell assembly work of the next pipe joint is carried out at the same time, realizing assembly line production and improving construction efficiency."
