The project of “Prestressed Ultra High Performance Concrete(UHPC) beam bridge without web reinforcement” by Zhonglu Dura International Engineering Co., Ltd(Zhonglu Dura) won the second prize of 2020 CCPA Concrete Science and Technology Award (Technology Innovation).

Compared with ordinary concrete, ultra-high performance concrete has ultra-high strength and ultra-long durability; compared with steel, it has low cost and excellent durability. It is a relatively high-quality material between ordinary concrete and steel.


With the continuous research and engineering application of UHPC in China, the application of UHPC in highway bridge structure has great breakthrough. Zhognlu Dura combines the new materials of UHPC with the new structure, takes into account the cost, designs and constructs UHPC beam bridge without web reinforcement, and realizes the economic indicators similar to the ordinary reinforced concrete structure.

Prestressed UHPC beam bridge without web reinforcement


The main innovations of the project are as follows.

lThe design of UHPC combined with prestressed reinforcement fully takes advantage of the high compressive strength and tensile performance of UHPC.

lBy prestressed reinforcement and UHPC, without ordinary reinforcement, the section size of the component is reduced and the overall cost is further reduced

lUHPC and ordinary reinforced concrete composite structure are adopted. The UHPC is applied to the beam body with high compression and high axial tension requirements, and the bridge deck is made of ordinary concrete. Materials with different strength are applied in different stress areas. More detailed structural division reduces the comprehensive cost.

lIt reduces the difficulty of transportation and hoisting of precast members of beam bridge. With the same span, the weight of prestressed UHPC beam is only 30% - 60% of that of traditional precast concrete members.

lA domestic fixed uhpcte mixing plant has been developed, with a single mixing capacity of 14m³. The mixing capacity of a single machine reaches 7m³.
