At the extremely cold atmospheric temperature of -35℃, and -45℃ external surface temperature, AGCC project has worked continuously for 23 hours to successfully complete the pouring of 1150 m3 concrete, which breaks the lower limit of winter construction temperature on the permafrost layer!

Deploy in advance to ensure project nodes
The project is located in the far east of Russia, with a long construction period in winter, where a lowest temperature is -45℃ in winter. In the face of difficulties and challenges such as severe cold and low temperature, material shortage and mechanical organization, the project team made efforts to plan and deploy in advance to ensure the completion on schedule. After many deliberation and demonstration of the project scheme, the practical scheme is finally determined.

The thermal insulation quilt is used to set up a warm shed for concrete, and the warm air machine is used for heating in the warm shed. Heating resistance wire and transformer are arranged to keep a suitable temperature for concrete pouring and maintenance, avoid quality problems due to low temperature, and ensure the pouring quality of concrete.
High-quality performance
In order to ensure concrete pouring, two pump trucks are pouring at the same time; set up a warm shed for the pump truck on site; build a warm air machine for heating, and conduct thermal insulation treatment for the hydraulic device of the pump pipe to ensure the normal operation of mechanical equipment; 10 tankers continuously transport concrete, and 2 water tankers are arranged to wash pump pipes when pouring is interrupted to avoid pump pipe blockage. A generator shall be prepared as the standby power supplier to prevent heating the resistance wire in case of sudden power failure.

At the project site, the management personnel shall be on duty in shifts without interruption. Special personnel is assigned to measure the temperature with industrial temperature gun to ensure that the ex-factory temperature of concrete in the mixing plant is not less than 23℃, the out of tank temperature is not less than 16℃, the molding temperature is not less than 5℃, and the surface temperature in the greenhouse is not less than 5℃. It took 23 hours working continuously to successfully complete the 1150 cubic meters of concrete.
A new record of winter construction in Russia
Although the "warm shed" can ensure the normal operation of the engineering construction project, it cannot eliminate the test of the severe cold on every employee of the project. Due to the limited space of the “warm shed”, more work can only be carried out in the open air in the severe cold of -35℃. Staff on site must wear 5kg cold proof suit, moisture-proof gloves, heavy safety shoes, and a vest printed with "China Construction".
