On January 2, with the last concrete pouring, the main construction of the Yibin lingang road-rail Yangtze River Bridge on the Zigong-Yibin Line of new Southern Sichuan Intercity Railway was successfully completed. The bridge is invested by Southern Sichuan Intercity Railway Co., Ltd. of Sichuan Railway Investment Group, a subsidiary of Shudao Investment Group, and jointly constructed by Sichuan Road & Bridge Group Co., Ltd. and China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group Co., Ltd.

The Yibin lingang road-rail Yangtze River Bridge is located in the eastern part of Yibin City, Sichuan Province, connecting Sanjiang New Area and Xuzhou District, and is a common river crossing for the Zigong-Yibin line of Southern Sichuan Intercity Railway, Chongqing-Kunming High-speed Railway and Chengdu-Kunming High-speed Railway, and is a key control project along the whole line.

The bridge has a total length of 1742.1 meters, a bridge deck width of 63.9 meters, and a main span of 522 meters. It is designed as a high-speed railway with four lines of 300 kilometers/hour in the middle. The two sides are two-way six-lane urban expressways, with sidewalks and non-motorized lanes paved on the outside. It is the world's first bridge of which the highway and high-speed railway are built on the same floor. After completion, it will also become the world's widest road-rail bridge, and the largest span of road-rail steel box girder cable-stayed bridge.
The main works of the bridge mainly include the construction of the bridge's main approach bridge foundation, beam body, main tower and stay cable, which was started in January 2019 and completed in four years. According to the plan, the Zigong-Yibin Line of Southern Sichuan Intercity Railway is expected to start static acceptance in May 2023, joint commissioning and test in September, and open to traffic at the end of December 2023.

The completion of Yibin Lingang Yangtze River Bridge will boost the construction of "Yibin and Chengdu-Chongqing double-city economic circle", help Yibin to build a southward opening of Sichuan Province, optimize the layout of regional road network, and further promote the integration of Southern Sichuan urban agglomeration into the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing double-city economic circle. It also become an important gateway for Sichuan province to develop along the river, and for the Chengdu-Chongqing economic zone to connect to the Nanning-Guizhou-Kunming economic zone and the Pan-Pearl River Delta region, and even to Southeast Asia.
