Shanghai Shimao Shenkeng Hotel is undoubtedly the unique project in the world. It will not only create a world record for the lowest-elevation of five-star hotel in the world, but also a reversion of the architectural concept for skyscraper. Following the concept of harmonious development between humans and nature, the building becomes a revolutionary creation in the human architectural history.

Structure Layout

The building is built along with the cliff. The central part of the building is a vertical traffic unit with arc-shaped curved rooms on both sides. Since the displacement ratio in seismic calculation and other parameters are difficult to control on the L-shaped construction plane, the vertical traffic unit and the left arc-shaped curved guest room unit are integrated in the design, and the other arc-shaped curved guest room unit is separated with the central part by seismic joint. 

Anti-Seismic  

Aseismic design is an extremely important issue. In order to solve this problem, the design team input the geologic parameters and the structure design information into the computer, and modelling the strength and seismic performance to ensure that the building designed to resist 9.0-magnitute earthquake.
